Yes but is it such a bargain? Neither of them are actually going to keep any of the stuff accumulated. Plus both have a criminal record now.

They have effectively had the free use of all the things that he bought with the proceeds. Maybe a life driving ban would be appropriate. That way he could not put in a claim again.
