If ITV switches to a pay per view or similar model, I'd be happy. Virtually nothing good comes on anyway.

Well it's never going to work is it?
Watchdog is a BBC1 show, so it's hardly the most impartial organisation is it?
;)

It's actually been years since I last watched a full programme on ITV - it's like a ridiculously extended version of GMTV these days

Because this is all ITV is famous for. Do they do anything else that I should have heard of?

The Sweeney, Minder, The Professionals, Space 199... A bunch of other "good" stuff in the 70s and early 80s.

If that happened I would buy the DVD's. They only have one program that I currently like, Doc Martin, and that is on DVD anyway so would not miss ITV at all. I do not watch the soaps or "I am a celebrity" so really would not miss them either.

ITV are moaning because Strictly Come Dancing went up against X Factor which X Factor won anyway in ratings terms. So why are they complaining? While a public remit does not have to be solely programs that are not popular. I expect that they have more complaints against Eastenders, which is a ratings winner and so limits what ITV can put on at that time.

Well, from what I can gather ITV is as guilty of show placement as the BBC with it's soaps, so... :?

EastEnders seems to be drawing criticism recently:

I also read that it could be one of the reasons the Tories would use to force the BBC to significantly downsize or break up. It}s doing what commercial TV does, and this should not happen (apparently). I wish I could find the article now.

Yes but if the BBC is forced to significantly downsize there will be no justification for the current level of TV license. This will drive viewers to the commercial sector where presumably they donate to the Tories?
