Well there goes one reason for voting anything other than Labour. Though even if he refuses to resign I expect he will get pushed out regardless of what he thinks.

He’ll get pushed out. I can’t see him surviving the summer conference if they lose. Too many eager young turks by the name of Milliband in waiting. Or Harman.

Neither are any more electable. Harman with her militant feminism will put of many men. The Millibands, there is something not quite right with either of them as leader. Alan Johnson might have a chance.

I certainly feel that the Labour Party is out of steam, and will need a decade or so to recover. By then, the Millibands and others will have hopefully gained some experience.

In fact, the Labour Malaise affects all the political parties. We are seeing a transition from one generation to the next, with no clear guiding hand to smooth it over. There are no proper statesmen in parliament at the moment, no proper heavyweights who could operate on a national level, let alone an international one. Whoever gets in next will lead us with the shaky hands of inexperience.

i doubt that they need a decade in the wilderness to invigorate them. They could simply start by doing what they promised before. They still have no joined up thinking. Even though that was a big element of their last few manifestos. They simply need to reform parliament and clear out the lobbyists. There are plenty of things that could be done.
