I know that Apple develop their own Java patches, but from what I've heard they bring it on themselves a little (insisting to be difficult about things such as Aqua etc.). We're still waiting for Java 6 to appear on OS X, it was released around two and a half years ago for other platforms!
I reckon Apple were hoping to have Java 1.6 out the door long before now, perhaps even tucked inside Leopard, and perhaps this hole may have been patched then. My guess is that Apple will ship Java 6 in Snow Leopard.
