The original motion called for the ban on any title that "requires cruel acts of violence against humans and human-like creatures for in-game success".

Goodbye Mario.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I think that they miss the point. Kids need to be taught the difference between games and reality. I love games where I can kill things but I do not replicate that experience outside the home. This policy will achieve very little.

The likeliest outcome seems to be an outright ban on the production, distribution and sale of any games deemed to be unsuitable - most likely anything with either a PEGI 16+ or PEGI 18+ certificate.'
No ban on owning them then? People could just mail order them from another country or download them from Steam (or similar).

It will be pretty unenforceable. You will just get a whole industry set up to get around these rules.

Um, a country with compulsory national service, where I understand every adult male must own, maintain and have a stock of amunition for a rifle, and can be called up for national emergency. They would be unlikely to be influenced by a game to go out and kill people.

Not sure if this is still true, but was the case noot too long ago
