Could she wind up in court over that, and does it make any difference that it's not a hotel? :?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

She has the right to refuse service I guess, just like a Hotel.

Yes but once you state why you are refusing it and that reason is a discrimination issue then ...... oh dear.

I doubt her policy is mentioned anywhere.

Still not right though. Plus gays are the ones with spare money, not having kids most of the time, so she has shut herself off from a very lucrative market.

Maybe, but it's still her decision to do so.

No she doesn't - not anymore. The Equality Act 2006 made this illegal.

I live in Brighton with more gays than anywhere else in percentage terms in Europe and they are the ones that spend money. If you are that easily offended then maybe not being a guest house owner is a great idea. What about hen nights they are just as bad in many ways.

Thing is if she just said no she wouldn't be breaking the law, because she gave her reason it was made it illegal

I've had to share a bed with another man before now, doesn't necessariy mean they are gay and doesn't mean they will have sex in the bed...

In my case, we, a large motorcycle group, were travelling through France, and it was the only bed left in the hotel...

Okay, they were a gay couple, but what is the problem? She isn't asking them to sleep in her bed.

Sounds like the Mr. Smith story I had to read at school (official text book), 2 friends went on holiday together, and Mr. Thompson (or whatever) booked 2 rooms, for himself and a friend. When they turned up, the friend's name was Mr. Smith and he was refused a room...

There has always been discrimination, whether it is for name, skin colour or sexual orientation. There are always people who will discriminate. :(

I have a couple in atm from California who arrived late on Saturday night. Kenny and Tom (which I find hilariously gay!). If the owner knew they were here, he'd go totally mental and his wife would be even worse, but they're old an religious. Kenny and Tom are two of the coolest guests I've had this year. My Dad's a Christian and he's the overall manager here, but we'd never turn anyone away on that basis. Ridiculous.

I'm sure there was an almost identical case in the papers a few years ago.
