I could do without all the CO2 boll0cks and just have a proper debate, thanks ![]() It seems like the two parties are serious about doing something, though we'll wait and see what comes of it, especially since the article reads like a load of spin ![]() I'm quite surprised that we had the experiment in the late 60s onwards - it really was a different time ![]() ![]() |

Schools could always start an hour earlier to compensate for the change in the clocks. Also why not have the clock go forward two hours in summer? |

Why not go +3 and +4 instead? Personally I think this is all ridiculous. GMT and BST (GMT+1) is enough for me. |

It makes no difference to me. I will adapt to whatever the time is. I suggested it because there are some who think that GMT+2 would be better in the summer. |

People will simply change their routines to compensate for the change. And what about all the electronics that'll have to be junked? Moving noon won't affect the amount of daylight - it's complete arse. If we really want to increase production throughout the year, we need to reduce working hours through the winter and increase them in the summer. |

Have you tried telling cows that? ![]() |

I fully support this change, it makes sense to "change" the amount of daylight so that the majority of people enjoy more daylight in the evening rather than sleeping through the extra light in the morning. Apparently the change will also boost the economy by several billion pounds. My fear though is that once people clock onto the fact that this change will effectively put the UK onto Central European Time, they'll all go crazy and oppose it just for that reason. |

Why not have GMT+1 all year round? I suspect they want to be on the same time as the rest of Europe for business reasons. |

I was about to say that this would put us on CET but I see Linux_User beat me to it. School and business opening times could be adjusted plus I suspect that cows and other livestock would adapt eventually. |

Cows and livestock probably run on biological clocks. As for schools there is no reason why they have to open at 9am. They could open earlier and effectively get the school run out of the way before the rush hour. Or open later after the rush hour. |

The animals at work weren't thrown by the clock change last night - they were still bang on time for the feeds. ![]() |
