Strange, a recent edition of What Laptop found that Vodafone had the fastest average connection. Only just I'll grant you, but fastest average none the less. |

Well there are other factors as well as speed. Coverage and customer support for two. And price as well. I have to admit I use O2 mobile broadband - but only 'cos I I got a 3GB/month 'bolt on' for my phone and got free home broadband into the bargain. Jon |

Not bad but I've only been on it since just after Christmas. It's ADSL 2+, which means I was getting roughly 1MB/s more on the line than I was with my previous provider. However the ADSL router they gave me is not very reliable, seems to crash about once a day and my old router is only straight ADSL so I lose the extra speed if I want reliability. I also suspect that if I phone the helpline about it they will want to to install that Broadband assistant app thing, which I have absolutely no intention of doing ![]() That is one big plus for them actually, that they're perfectly happy for you to plug your own kit into the line. As oppose the likes of Sky or TalkTalk who insist on giving you a router that's so locked down as to be, for someone technical like me who wants to do some odd things, utterly useless. Jon |

I'm consistently hitting 11Mb with it, well chuffed. Only twice in the time I've used it has the Wi-Fi signal went weak, but at least the connection hasn't dropped out completely. And it's a long story, but it may have been my moronic family's fault anyway... You've inadvertently reminded me to check how good the signal is outside the house ![]() Re. Sky/TalkTalk. I'd forgotten they did that... |
