I must say for the same price as an iPad, I'm not sure I would be quick to take on a joojoo. If it was reasonably cheaper maybe, but it needs more grunt and 4GB storage built in is awful. Second thought's I'll stick to an iPad when most likely second gen iPad, or if I get £400 spare.

I thought you were talking about the economy, which is in a huge joojooflop situation.

As a preliminary review it was very fair. I think that it will appeal to the Zune crowd.

You mean the "buy something about half as good as the leading product for the same price just so they can appear 'different' " crowd'?
I've watched the video. It's rubbish. It can only do web, it's slow as hell, the GUI is unresponsive and it doesn't even have an MP3 player in it. Let alone apps or ebooks or etc.

But it's got Flash so, y'know, it must be brilliant.

Two years ago a web tablet for $200 seemed pretty good; two years on and twice the price it should have been, it's not looking so hot, even just on paper. In the flesh (or on the video at least) it looks even worse; apart from rabid Apple-hatred, I can't imagine why anyone would buy this over an iPad. So no, my money's already spoken for in this sector, thanks.

I thought it was amusing, that they sold 90 units... But 12 of them were returned

Guess only geeks have really heard about it, they p*ssed at the makers of the Joojoo for allegedly ripping off Techcrunch (it was originally a Techcrunch project, run by Michael Errington and the Indian company who designed the hardware kicked Techcrunch off the product 1 week before its first public showing) and people are waiting for the iPad.

Edit: Jon, it is a web tablet, it isn't supposed to have an MP3 player or eBooks. It supposed to be, essentially, an embedded web browser and nothing more. That is what Techcrunch wanted, and they wanted it much cheaper.

I wonder if they were returned when they heard about the iPad? ;) This looks bad to have only sold that few. Uber niche product if there were one.

Well, maybe they did have a chance with something that was a decent couch web tablet at the same price as a cheap ebook reader. But a device of such limited functionality for the same price as an iPad? I'm surprised they sold 90.
If it were 300 quid and you could say put Android 2.0 on it, it might stand a chance of nabbing some sort of decent money. As it is, it's a dead duck.
