Yes but if you run a business and have cash transactions then it is at least local to where you trade. The big supermarkets can afford armoured cars to move their cash, small traders cannot, and do not have the time or manpower to transfer it to another town to pay it in to their account. Then there are some who do not like cards for what ever reason and so use cash most of the time. I cannot use ATM's because I have a chip and signature card, so occasionally go into the bank. Also branches are important if you want to set up an account for the first time. People generally open an account with a bank that is near them.
