Break the banks up and they will have to open branches again.

I appreciate it's not for everyone, and every so often you have to talk one to one with the fcukers, but I can't even remember the last time I had to go into a bank... Online shopping and bank accounts, and bank/credit card/ATMs FTW! :D

I often order things for my parents online because they don't trust this new fangled technology, and they reimburse me with a cheque.

It's not too bad as I get to have a wander around town and probably wouldn't do so otherwise.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Yes but if you run a business and have cash transactions then it is at least local to where you trade. The big supermarkets can afford armoured cars to move their cash, small traders cannot, and do not have the time or manpower to transfer it to another town to pay it in to their account. Then there are some who do not like cards for what ever reason and so use cash most of the time. I cannot use ATM's because I have a chip and signature card, so occasionally go into the bank. Also branches are important if you want to set up an account for the first time. People generally open an account with a bank that is near them.
