$1m ??? Damages? F*ck off. Yes they over reacted big time, putting cuffs on a 12 year old for that? But $1m? Come on, it's obvious what kind of parents these are, they are more interested in cash than clearing the child name, yes she shouldn't have done it but it should certainly be dealt with in house. Then again, the story is very one sided.

Also who thinks it's a good idea to put a child on trial for writing on a desk? Criminalizing children for such pathetic offensives it's not surprising America has so many people locked up.

What makes it even worse is the fact that she was writing on her desk in an erasable green marker. So it didn't even damage the desk.

Well it could have harmed her psychologically, Though the authorities clearly over reacted and if the only solution to this sort of thing is to sue them then that is the only option. It is not as if they have much evidence against her, it was erasable. As for it being more about cash that could be true. Have you ever dealt with a UK council they will not do anything unless it makes sense cash wish that is why social service are such a mess. If you have to sue to get them to take the cheaper option anyway that is what is needed.

Go for it. Might beat some sense into the heads of the various authorities involved.

+1. There's some serious policy or training issues that need to be resolved there if the Police really think it's appropriate in cases like this to arrest a 12-year-old in this manner.

A $1,000,000 worth of professional help might not be enough to erase the psychological damage done by these fascist pigs.

A $1 cloth would erase the damage done to the desk.

I can't help thinking we're missing some of the story. Surely even the American police state isn't that retarded??

I would imagine that they have a zero tolerance attitude, hence have no lee way in making any decisions.

I'm struggling to remember what the general consensus on Rudi's tenure was with the NYPD :?
