If Apple let people use the phones they've paid for how they want, this wouldn't be an issue. |

It's always going to be an issue, since somebody will always want to do something with the device that the makers haven't anticipated or in fact is actually illegal (cf: modifying consoles like the PSP to play pirate games). As to the initial story, I'm not in the least surprised. It's a device running the same OS as a device which has previously been hacked, what makes anyone think it wouldn't be vulnerable to the same exploits? |

Is it actually an issue? If so, for who? If you jailbreak it and something nasty happens then you've got yourself to blame, not Apple. If I buy a new car, then go about fitting a nitrous system that knackers the engine after 5 minutes, I wouldn't expect the manufacturer to honour any sort of warranty. |

I would not bother jail breaking it. I am not happy about the lack of tethering, but can live with that. |
