It stole a $50 tripod and left the $1,000 camera behind. Obviously the real reason why those bears are heading for extinction is poor financial planning rather than global warming.

I think that the bear has a very poor fence. :)

Doesn't the article state that the photographers picked up all their camera gear, except their tripods, and made a dash for one of their trucks?
I also think the tripod that it made off with was significantly more than $50.
That bear has expensive tastes.
