GAME sells ex-display stock as 'new'

At GAME's prices, you'd be mighty p1ssed off

GAME adds DLC warning for pre-owned

I've never bothered with DLC content other than Batman: Arkham Asylum's (and I couldn't really be bothered with it)...

GAME cuts working hours

Some of the staff are unfriendly as it is

I dislike going into GAME stores, I can't afford any of the games in there, don't have any of the new consoles, and the staff leave a lot to be desired...

I much prefer the independent/small chain stores that cater for those people who have enough money to buy new consoles, but also know that many people still enjoy playing on older consoles and so cater for them also.

GAME prices are utterly ridiculous - if even HMV had to wind their necks in a bit when the net became ubiquitous, somebody should tell GAME

Maybe that is why GAME are still profitable? ;)

1 hyphenated word

Pre-Owned

They make nearly all their profit from used sales and accessories, new games have ~5% profit margin, consoles about 3% for the retailer

used games.... about 50%, this is from the low cash value they give or a few quid more for trade in, say £20 cash on a new release then selling it for £37.99

Yes but even the pre-owned games are good value for many even allowing for the GAME profit margin. Not always though. eBay and the Amazon Marketplace are handy as well.

They are only good value because of the price they pay for them being so low.

But that is why eBay is a source of games. The returns for sellers are better.
