http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8632038.stm

Quote:
A comedian who was illegally stopped and searched after a demonstration in east London has won compensation from the Metropolitan Police (Met).
Mark Thomas has received £1,200 and a "full apology" for having his wallet and shoulder bag searched by two police officers in September 2007.
One officer recorded in writing that he was suspicious of Mr Thomas because of his "over-confident attitude"

Yes over confident because he knew he would win if he sued the police. :D

I liked Mel Smith and Gryff as Constable Porno and Inspector Bribeasy.

B: "I'll show the Superintendent how intelligent I am!"
P: "Right sir, you get the tape measure, I'll get the two short planks."

The fact that he was on a stop list by the police is also disturbing. It is not as if he is going to commit a crime so why put him on it?

The guy is very comedic, hence the word "comedian". He also talks a lot of sense and has been doing so for some time. Unfortunately, not everybody is ready to hear what he has to say.

Given the sentiment here^^, I wont perpetuate the endless SPAG pedantry that goes on around here.

Also, if you are 5-0, would you care to confirm whether your quoted attitude on this matter is shared by your colleagues?

I find him very funny. The fact that his comedy is based in fact and the inequity of it all, makes the big business types very nervous. He pointed out the ridiculousness of the bans of protests in parliament square so what he did was get hundreds of people to protest individually all on the same day on absolutely anything they liked, even the price of pies.
