Much as I dislike Liverpool, he does have a point as it puts the home team at a substantial advantage.

I am not even interested in footie but I would agree. In fact any journey further than 4 hours by road should be postponed as the team travelling will be exhausted by the journey. Plus could they even get back across the channel?

Well it sounds like they're travelling today for a Thursday evening game, non? So I don't think they'll be exhausted but having had a day at their destination, but it'll no doubt scupper their plans, assuming they'd have got some training in today and a full schedule of training tomorrow. You'd presume they'd just be doing light sessions tomorrow, now. He seemed to suggest they wouldn't be coming back until Saturday, too, which I didn't understand. Or was that the date of their next match (although I thought I'd read that was Sunday). Meh! Toe-ball!

Four hours in a luxury coach, exhausted? The biggest problem will always be playing away.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Yes maybe longer is possible, but to Spain will be more than 24 hours in a coach and that is with drivers to swap over.

Cost of several drivers versus cheapest player's salary at this level???

Which they will have. At the end of the day a professional sportsman must put the game first and focus 100% no matter what the conditions that surround it are.
