http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cove ... 647824.stm I'm sorry, but that's boll0cks, he'd only have himself to blame if he lost his position. Wouldn't there be other people who could do the job while he did something else? ![]() And this stinks of someone having a quiet word with the judge ![]() |

You don't need a UK licence to drive in Afghanistan.... I suspect he would also lose his job if he was a driver though, so be it. Should have thrown the book at him and been punished in the military. |

Maybe not so extreme but you do hear of people not losing licences because they need it for their livliehood. IMO they should be taking more care on the road than the rest of us, they should know better. |

That was always my thinking on the subject. Also, most of the cases that I've read about, the reasoning comes across as being nothing more than a "court justification", thought up by a lawyer well after the event. You'd have thought that judges / magistrates would learn to pick up on that. |

I would hope his CO gives him a severe b*ll*cking and takes measures - loss of rank/privilages/bonuses does not seem inappropriate, as he got off very lightly with the courts |
