http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/253357/yout ... blues.htmlThis really is shocking. Looks like I may have to block access to YouTube, as I know for a fact that my daughter has watched Hannah Montana videos and the possibilities really don't bear thinking about.

It’s the risk we all take on the interwebs. Unless YouTube start policing every upload prior to “go live” I think we have to expect this to happen from time to time.

I think for the last few months, I've come (snickers) across porn scenes, either amateur or "professional" stuff whilst looking for other things. I agree that it's absolutely impossible to police unless they review every clip before accepting the upload. But it'd also cut down on homemade videos of say crosses between terminator and robocop on the basis of copyright.

I've not seen Hannah Montana but it sounded familiar. I see it stars Miley Cyrus. I thought she was in porn; maybe some of those Youtubes?

Could YouTube not "scan" such videos for offending clips and remove them, in a similar manner to the way they detect videos which infringe copyright?

they dont scan for copyright material, they rely on someone sayings its theres, then they have a look.

Hm, my mistake. Though I could have sworn I read somewhere that they were going to implement such software.

My little sis is 13 and she practically lives on YouTube. I do worry, but I'm not her parent. Thing is, I've been online at home since '97 (when I was 16), so I've learnt most things the hard way at some point. A lot of kids (and adults for that matter) haven't. That's why I'm always asked to "fix" people's PCs after they accidentally downloaded something that fubared their machine.
Can we do anything? Not really. Just try to keep an eye on your kids. Tough one.
