The Los Angeles city council has voted to boycott Arizona businesses in one of the strongest moves yet against the state's new immigration law.
Council members agreed to bar official travel to Arizona and avoid new city contracts with state firms.
Last month, Arizona passed a law requiring police to check the immigration status of people suspected of being in the US illegally.

Depending on how stubborn Arizona is, this could escalate in a big way.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Apparently a lot of US states are talking about such a boycott. Arizona are the most extreme right wing state in the US. They have the "toughest" sheriff and probably the most worst jail system in the US. Even John McCain is not considered right wing enough to represent the Republican party there.

Arizona may consider turning off the water.

I thought that Los Angles bought the rights to water to Lake mead so do not rely on water from the Colorado river.

In Phoenix, they also have the number one kidnapping rate in the world! Not America, they have a worse problem than Mexico City!

They also had a very liberal council in Phoenix, where they weren't allowed to do racial profiling - the person who attacked you was Mexican and had gang tats? That's a problem, we can't stop people, because they are Mexican and have the same gang tats.

I love that state, and as a white guy with a British accent, I'm probably ok on the profiling front. But I've been watching this situation get worse for some time now. Their border patrol already has jurisdiction 200 miles north of the Mexican border and probable cause is just an idea to many of the cops there. Shame, because they have some of the most stunning landscapes in the whole world and if this gets worse, less people will see it.
