I don't entirely get what it would do?

Would it be just Spotify but on iTunes? Or would it extend to mobile devices like the iPhone?

Might be interesting... if it happens.

It looks like a spotify clone, though not sure whether iTunes is enough to differentiate it.

I was hoping for a version to keep a copy of my iTunes xml file in the cloud so I could add to it no matter what machine I used. I have nearly a 1Tb of music so no chances of uploading that to the cloud.

I'd be happy just for iTunes to allow me to sync 'free' content (podcasts and the like) to my iPhone from any PC.

I'm told Spotify is quite similar-looking to iTunes :)
