The age of consent in France is 15 and has been for many years, so why the reason that she has come out about this now? Is she trying to re launch her career?

Well, this one's British. Actually I think in France consent is 14 but only if its with someone who in no way has any sort of hold or influence over them. An old man would fall into that category. About time people stopped making excuses for him because of who he is. A paedo is a paedo.

Yes, and AFAIK there's more to French law than just taking the age of one of the individuals into account alone. Not 100% though.
