Theresa May halts Gary McKinnon's legal battle against extradition to America

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... erica.html

Quote:
The Home Office said on Thursday that Home Secretary Theresa May had decided to halt the legal process so she could re-examine impact of extradition on Mr McKinnon’s health.
The coalition Government also confirmed in its formal agreement it would conduct a comprehensive review of the controversial extradition treaty under which Mr McKinnon was set to be extradited.

Fixed for what they should do.

Yes the treaty is too one sided as it stands.

I still think he's a prat, but at least some good may come out of it legally :)

I will not disagree about him being a prat but Asperger's does make people obsessive beyond what normals would consider acceptable. Ultimately he should be tried here and then they could not extradite him.

It was the fact he left them little messages as he went along that sealed it for me... The Yanks would have been better pretending nothing had ever happened. Or hiring him, prat or not, he's probably more competent than whoever's in charge of their security

Since parts of it were wide open even I am more competent than who they had in charge.

On the basis that he admits doing it and the pc's were in America. We can't have a just legal system if people who are ill are exempt from prosecution.

Actually we do. How do you think General Pinochet avoided trial?

He also broke UK law, and has admitted so - he should be tried here. Instead, the government bowed to American political pressure and refused to prosecute, just so he could be extradited.
