I cannot get onto youtube in work, but have a look at Stephen Fry in a recent debate opposing the motion that "The Catholic Church is a force for good".

The debate involves him, Christopher Hitchens (who's a little too angry for my liking), Ann Widecombe and a bishop with whom I'm not familiar.

Needless to say, Fry tears them apart in the most eloquent and erudite manner.

They are not employees, they are self funding recruitment agents, the fact that the church provides them with a "franchise/diocese" and pensions is irrelevant.

Mr Fry is one hell of an orator and i agree with all he stated
as i have always maintained the church any church of any faith is 'organised gang membership'
nothing more nothing less and will never be a force for good

you don't have to a member of any church or organised gang to have 'faith' …

I disagree, it's pretty hard to find things to angry at Buddhists about.

But a Vatican source insisted: "The Pope is not totally unsympathetic - he's seen Barbarella for Christ's sake - but he simply does not understand why a fully trained priest would seek comfort in the arms of a woman when he's surrounded by rows and rows of freshly packed boymeat."

That was the bit that I liked. :D
