Ubisoft DRM is 'a good strategy' - Namco
Erm, a 12 year old shouldn't be near a lot of your games, and I seriously doubt many of them are downloading them to play on a PC anyway ![]() Blizzard: 'Focus on cool features not DRM'
Yip, Steam goes from strength to strength - in fact, they could probably do with competition... |

I have just pre ordered Starcraft 2 but will not be bothering with the community features. I more than expect it will restrict me to playing with the CD in but I am used to that. |

The Ubisoft DRM system works well for them, problem is it doesnt 'work' for the customer. |

If it does not work for the customer then it does not work for the company long term either. |

That is not an issue on my main machine. It is plugged in all the time. Though if they make stand alone games that require internet access then they will have a problem if the government start cutting peoples internet off. I have a number of programs that go online to check that they are valid licenses. |

Yes that will be a problem, or if the ISP cuts you off or you live where broadband is not available. |

It comes to something when you don't know who's thicker between a bunch of builders and your ISP - there were times we didn't know who to blame round here ![]() |

Ubisoft DRM 'benefits pirates'
A Steam-style system would work a treat (Just as a for instance, you could sell 'old, unsellable stock' cheap alongside the new stuff and make some money ![]() |

DRM only hinders legitimate users pirates get around the DRM and are not affected. If they slashed the marketing budgets and the price of the games as well, they would sell just as well, but without the overhead. Most people will buy based on reviews, box art, genre and price. Most marketing is wasted in that respect. |
