I wonder how far back they will open it up for. Coins is a mare to use anyway.

Well having read up on it this is NOT for historical stuff ( breaths a sigh of relief ) purely for going forward.

Also I know the coins application and there is no way they could release that. They will need to export the data and then allow access somehow.............. :?

Maybe, but it's something that seriously gets my goat, so I do tend to comment on it. I must confess that my intention with the post had been to suggest 'playing at politics' on the part of the Tories, but I do get carried away at times.

And the next lot in will have a field day as even if they were a member of the current coalition they will blame the other part of it :D

Well they could not really blame the conservatives for the economy when they came it. Broken britain yes but the economy no It was stable, but with all the requirements in place for a spectacular bubble in credit.

Got to remember alot of social issues developed from the heart of the 1980s. A lot of economic issues result from the 1979-2010 practises of tory (79-97 ) and labour (97-2010) governments. The probelem tends to be that when politicians have to deal with a crisis the actions that caused it at root are many years ago. Free market thatcherism with our current economic condition is the root cause but also is globalisation and as much as people blame old gordon for it every country had a recession or a decline in growth (in the case of china). As far as gordon was to blame is not identifying that banks in britain had vulnerable debt building Now it seems the very simplest of premises however at the time very few could tell you it were coming few believed me in highschool and in my family in 2007 that a major economic crisis would appear because a housing market collapse as a result of loose crediting policies.
And it should be understood that this government has an incredibly difficult job to do and to do that job it has to remain in power however how is that government going to remain in power when every balls up the last government did is going to come back to haunt you.

I think we should really stop looking for where the blame is and let the government get on with fixing it then make a balanced veiw of how the government have performed every 5 years.

Buck passing Its practically like saying "look there is a problem but it wouldn't be here in the first place if they hadn't gone and [LIFTED] it up so give us some breathing space"

However I believe this forum is much more cynical than that.

The Tories were not critical of the increase in bank debts or size until the crisis hit, then it became an easy target, yet their policies will not make the situation any better. It is more of tinkering with a few things to make it look like we are doing something. They need to break the banks up and that will defuse a lot of the criticism of the bonus culture. The smaller banks will be unable to make the gambles that they can now. Even splitting casino banking would be sensible but that is not even being considered. I am more than willing to give them leeway over the mess that they inherited but they need to fix the problems rather than leave things as they are and hope that everything will turn out well. Cutting the deficit too sharply will mean that we have austerity for a number of years, it is a difficult choice, but they also have to raise revenue and the best way is to target areas that created the problems like the housing bubble with capital gains taxes. Otherwise I see no prospect of an end to the crises, costing more and more to solve.
