Boo f*cking hoo.

Give me £210,000 a year and I will be happy with no perks what so ever.

I think that most people will agree with you. Even so as a head of a section of the BBC there will still be considerable perks with the jobs, maybe no town house or country mansion with staff, but still pretty good.

The thing I'm really incredulous about is that he thinks anyone else would see anything wrong with this. You blithering idiot, you run a radio network that's not even subject to proper competition, he runs the entire [LIFTED] country.

And there is certainly no commercial equivalent to Radio 4.

I doubt you'd sell advertising for such a channel.

In other news, bears found to defecate in wooded areas.

Well no, he runs England, and to some extent Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Radio 4 is so superior to all commercial radio stations that I'd happily pay a subscription fee to keep it, should the BBC ever be privatised.

But that is why it should not be privatised as part of the public service remit.

As far as I'm aware, England is a country. As is Scotland, although I'm not sure about Wales and I'm pretty sure Northern Ireland isn't. I'm not sure what the UK and/or the British Isles are classed as - if I was forced to, I'd go for 'nations' - but as a collective neither is a country.

Well it certainly thinks so.

There are probably four or so hours of Radio4 programming I listen to a week, which admittedly is more than any other individual channel the BBC produces. However I tend to avoid their current affairs programming as if it were a rabid dog, as in the general the BBC political journalism department is so far up it's own arse it can count it's own fillings.
