so it has an integrated print server? pretty obvious idea really, especially given how powerful and cheap embedded devices are getting. ![]() though they had better make sure those addresses are spam-free, or it could end up very expensive for customers ![]() |

It would be interesting to know which formats are fully supported. I guess most people would be happy with just Office documents and image files, but there's a never ending list out there which changes every day. This is why standards such as Postscript were invented. "Can you email that again? Yeah, my printer doesn't do Word 12 and the html email you sent came out with all the wrong fonts and the pictures in the wrong place. What do you mean you don't know how to make a PDF..?" |

As it uses an e-mail address, I would assume that the mail goes to an internet server, which means that the server just needs to send the printer something it understands. That means that when new formats turn up, the server needs to be upgraded in order for the printer to understand it. The downside is a lack of control (printing specific pages, scaling etc.). It will also mean that printing could be slower, depending on the speed of your internet connection - although it has the advantage of being able to print documents on the home printer from work or down the pub... |
