http://photo.net/leica-rangefinders-for ... nified_p=1 As mentioned, when Yoshihisa Maitani designed the Olympus OM-1 he said the Leica models of the time inspired him. Jobs is saying his phone is 'just like' one. Glad to see his balls were not effected by his illness ! |

I think Apple will have a long way to go to get the kind of images a Leica is capable of. I’m still suspiscous of the quality opf images from mobile phone cameras. I do use the one on mine, but more for note taking than for anything I’d want to use seriously. For that I’d use my real Leica ![]() ![]() |

I think whilst the iPhone is a great unit, its cheeky comparing it to a Leica camera. I have a Digilux 3 I am still paying off, bought on a whim on terms and I don't need to feel worse about paying it off with Jobs comparing it to a mass produced phone ! |

Thing is though, the iPhone 4 was never compared to the Leica in terms of photographic quality. They were compared in terms of style and design. I'm not saying that it is a correct comparison but they definitely never said it will take pictures of the same quality as a Leica. |

Maybe it's similar purely in the fact both are VERY expensive? |

Many of the Leica range are just sexed up Panasonics (Lumix), in a way, I would say they are nicer to own than use. Call that nonsense if you will, but it makes me happy. |

I don't think it's for people involved in something to make such comparisons, that's for others to decide. |

There is a similarity between Panasonics and Leicas, but the software is different. When Jobs compared the iPhone to a Leica, you know he’s picked a camera because this is what he wants people to think about. The inevitable comparison will be made - can an iPhone 4 take the same quality images as a Leica? |

I agree. I would say that the Leica design is classic, but the iPhone 4 will only become a classic after some passage of time. As for its looks that could be declared now. I really like the look of the iPhone 4. Having seen a few phones of the white version I am seriously considering a white one rather than a black one now. |
