The BBC has already rolled the iPlayer across many devices – although not Microsoft's Xbox 360 of course – but the ITV is apparently looking at a potential paid for app to raise money for the cost of the venture.

You won't catch me paying for it on PS3 (I'm assuming they wouldn't ask/try anyway, but who knows?), and I'm now wondering if it would run in the given PS3 browser anyway. Or is Silverlight gonna be a problem there? :?

It really was terrible when they were using Silverlight. Even worse than Flash.

Sony has announced that it's adding ITV's catch up service, ITV Player, to the PS3. The company revealed, during this year's Gamecom trade show in Cologne, Germany, that the new offering will go live later this year, and is one of six new channels across Europe being added to the service.

Other channels to benefit from the new catch-up TV treatment will be Animax in Germany, TV3 in Spain, Yahoo!7's PLUS7 service in Australia, YLE in Finland, and, following its initial success, an expanded NOS service in Holland.

Not content with bringing Coronation Street to UK gamers, Sony has also announced the next PlayTV upgrade, called PlayTV Live Chat, which will be available in late 2010. The new service promises to bring a sense of community to those who normally find themselves watching TV alone, allowing onscreen text discussion.

Using the analogy of the forthcoming football season, SCEE President and CEO, Andrew House illustrated how PlayTV Live Chat allowed real time onscreen discussion on the merits of a match or referee amongst PlayTV viewers worldwide.

Sony has also said that, from October, it will be adding MUBI - a streaming movie service that specialises in independent and classic films curated by movie experts.

On that MUBI score:

Quote:
Sony's announced that Play TV will get its streaming film service "Mubi" in October.

The service will sit in Play TV's crossbar and include community features like a film forum and rating system for movie buffs who will be able to discuss the films.

Mubi will be available in 18 different countries and come with an ad-related subscription plan.

It's all good :D

What’s iTV? Isn’t that Apple’s much rumoured cloud based TV box?

ITV - I wasn’t allowed to watch it as a kid. I choose not to watch it as an adult.
