This comes just days after the Aussie government has been been at the forefront of complaints against google for collecting wifi data. The whole thing is laughable.

I'm hoping there would be public backlash against this, and it wouldn't surprise me to find some parties using an abolishment as an election pledge. I know how I would vote.

Australia has been going off the rails in terms of policy recently. All that this will do is kill off the internet use there and ruin potential for businesses generally. I have no interest in knowing what my neighbours have been looking for but this sort of information can be misused so easily.

I think that they are clamping down on porn in all its forms, first the internet with the Great Australian firewall with millions of pages blocked. Now this will stop it coming in via the airports.
