Indeed but instead of just calling them 'evil' it smacks of the potential that the lads, if true, may have been reinacting something that's happened to them. Needs a good looking into.

It would likely to have come out in court as a mitigating effect to their sentence

Rather depends on what "it" was. Do you expect the mother would have admitted to abusing the boys?

Child protection is a tough call. My sympathies are with the sister and the mother did the right thing by calling social services. Far too often these things are ignored by mums.
