I just really like the headline of this story.

And exactly how much money did they waste rebranding?

It's a private business - it's their money to waste if they want to. Sure they'll piss off the shareholders, but that's the way of the world.

I'm not certain the general public even noticed the change before. Everyone I knows still refers to the place as "Dixons".

I guess they decided that the sh!t was so ingrained in the blanket they might as well change it back to the old name.

I have no problem with it, but so often the whole rebranding exercise for many companies is a waste of money.

Like I said, it's not so much rebranding as unbranding.

Dixons left the high street a long time ago. It’s now Curry’s or Curry’s.Digital (or somesuch crazy post-modern javascript like punctuation). The thing is that Curry’s was always the poor relation to Dixons, which has the advantage of having an X in the name, thus providing it with futuristic sci-fi like powers.

Considering that the D in DSG stands for Dixons (and not Dogtanion, despite the fact that their crazy capers are more akin to the erstwhile puppy-cum-musketeer), does not make this a surprise. Now they can trade on their reputation for shifting extended warranties for brown goods at high speed through their commission hungry salesmen safe in the knowledge that they have a brand that reflects that practice.

One for all and all for one,
Muskehounds are always ready.
One for all and all for one,
Helping everybody.
One for all and all for one,
It's a pretty story
Sharing everything with fun,
That's the way to be!
One for all and all for one,
Muskehounds are always ready.
One for all and all for one,
Helping everybody.
One for all and all for one,
Can sound pretty corny
If you've got a problem chum
Think how it could be!
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
They cross their hearts and pray,
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
They cross their swords night and day,
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
They drink a beer and swear they're
Faithful to their king!
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
No matter what you say,
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
They're never far away,
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
They're always ready to fight
Or to sing!
One for all and all for one,
Muskehounds are always ready.
One for all and all for one,
Helping everybody.

If you've got a problem chum
Think how it could be!
Da-da-da, da-da-da,!
They like to make jokes and tricks
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
They fight with swords or with sticks
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
They have a beer and swear they're
Faithful to their king!
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
They will defend you singing
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
They'll always come to their king,
Da-da-da, da-da-da,
And on their horses they
Fight or they sing!
One for all and all for one,
Muskehounds are always ready.
One for all and all for one,
Helping everybody.

You mean it had changed? That's news to me.

However, the group which rebranded all of its high street stores as Currys, has no plans to change the name of its stores back again.
I could swear there's still a Dixon's sign over the door of the one in our local shopping centre.

There's a Dixons in the Retail Park near me as well.
