Analogue television sets are no longer being sold at major retailers across the UK, ahead of the digital switchover in 2012.

Digital UK, which is overseeing the move, said that no analogue TV sets were sold in the UK in May.

I thought that as long as you had a TV box then you did not need to worry about the switchover.

No, I think they mean that no TVs are being sold now which need an extra box to receive digital.

It makes sense. Analogue has already been switched off in some areas, and it would be pretty sick to buy a TV that wouldn't work at all until you bought an external tuner for it.

Yes but with the new HD Freeview format coming out I would want to be sure that your TV could handle that rather than need another box for a brand new TV.
