Don't get me wrong, there definitely needs to be a debate on the BBC in general never mind the licence fee, but it shouldn't be led by Murdoch-loving Jeremy Hunt. His predecessor Bradshaw was a right Jeremy Hunt too :evil:

Well, they should only be making Top Gear and the News, so I don't see why they need so much money. They could save a bundle by shelving crap like Eastenders.

Yes but what about nature programs and springwatch? There are things that do not appeal to me, but they are just as entitled to be made as what I like. If they cut the top management wages they could make some savings there. As ernie will probably testify there are plenty of examples of PC madness that cost a fortune published in Private Eye.

+1, the BBC does stunning work with things like Life, Planet Earth, The Blue Planet, Yellowstone, South Pacific Islands, etc etc ad infinitum.

Once the digital changeover is done they'll have to cut it anyway (they raised it to fund it)

Yes but the digital costs were not that high, so strip them out and it will be pretty close to what it is now. Though what they might do is take some of the public service requirement funding and give that to Sky for what ever they can get away with.
