I'm sorry, is this from a 1950's American news wire?
Yes, while Mom's at home perfecting her apple pie, Pop's putting an extra hour in at the office to make sure Junior's going to get the extra help in college he'll be needing. Or maybe just a little aside for those rainy days and trips to see the All-Star Football game for getting a straight A report card! Here's to you, model family!

Just because it's unfashionable does not make the model obsolete.

It does say that where couples do not have kids and both work that the woman does do more. Though it does differ for every family.

Interestingly it doesn't look at single people, who there are actually more of than couples in terms of households. (the maths will probably always work out that way if you think about it). The cliche would obviously be that single women do some and single men do virtually none at all. Mainly because one of the best ways to remain a single bloke is to live somewhere that looks like a rubbish tip .

I've been shirking the last couple of weeks, mainly because I wasn't allowed ot stand up!
Generally, we swap back and forth with the cooking, whoever gets home first puts the washing machine on, if the dishwasher is full, you put it on, whoever notices that it has finished (or has something dirty to put in and the machine is finished) empties it, we have fixed days of the week to vacuum and dust (I do Saturdays, because I generally get home too late during the week and my girlfriend works alternate weekends)...
Even so, my girlfriend "sees" much more than I do, that needs doing around the house... That said, she only has a 3/4 job, so is generally home earlier than I am.

I cook, clean & iron my clothes.
She washes up, does the washing and irons her clothes.

Straight forward logic that works fine until you live with people who overfill the machine. Some people you just can't help.

Faye cooks dinner, I eat it and wash up.
I clean the bathroom, put the hoover round and generally make stuff tidy. She does the same, just less often...

My wife does far more housework than I do, usually while I'm at work. It's not unfair division of labour, it's just when she chooses to clean up.
I often get home to my dinner on the table or to find she's just finishing cooking it. If we speak on the phone during work hours, she often asks what I would like for dinner.
At weekends, she gets the luxury of a lie in and I make breakfast. Whenever I take time off work, I cook & clean and take the kids to school.
