Channel 4 is currently in talks with Sony to bring its video on demand service 4oD to the PlayStation 3.

The talks are said to be in their early stages but with BBC's iPlayer having made the move to Sony's platform successfully it makes sense that other broadcast companies may want to follow suite.

The difference this time, however, is that Channel 4's service would be a commercial service.

"We're looking to launch on the PS3," a 'source at C4' told Broadcast magazine.

"4oD is becoming a platform agnostic product and will be successful because of the quality of the content."

There were reports that ITV was also in talks with Sony to bring its own player to the PS3 back in June.
