So Google have announced that they are killing Google Wave, saying "Wave has not seen the user adoption we would have liked".

Novel is going to plow on with it's version called Pulse, though it is aimed at the enterprises as apposed to general consumers.

Wave came and went for me, I was never really sure what it was for, and never really had any need to use it. Has anyone here used it?

Heh, I have to confess I'd never even heard of Google Wave until earlier this week when it was announced it was to be shut down!
:lol:

</product fail>

Same goes for Novell
*quickly goes to look it up*

Nah, that'll fail as well - I give it six months at best.
Seems to me that all these types of products are solutions for problems that don't exist. I honestly can't see a genuine use for them in the real world (business or personal) that can't be replaced by email, instant messenging or *dare I say it* picking up the phone! (how terribly old-fashioned!).

I loved Wave. My biggest problem was that no one else knew about it, so I was waving into a vacuum!

It was a very intelligent and intuitive combination of email, blog, forum and IM with multimedia and apps. It was fantastic, and could have been the answer to a lot of communications problems which even a solution as powerful and expensive as Office fail to address.

Unfortunately, most people just didn't "get it" :x

I predict something remarkably similar will rule the roost in 10 years time. The world just wasn't quite ready for information convergence, but the next generation will demand it.

I never had a cause to even look at it, but from what I have read, I think much the same...

I think the problem was the visibility of the thing was next to zero. I have seen next to nothing raising Wave's profile with ordinary consumers. I managed to get an invite but I only logged on twice and never really "got" it.

I guess I never really understood what one could do with it.
