Microsoft has advised Hotmail users struggling to access their email accounts to surf via Google’s Chrome browser in order to successfully connect to the recently overhauled service.

The software vendor finally rolled out its latest version of Hotmail to its 350 million users last week, but since then the company has faced plenty of complaints from disgruntled customers unhappy with the new interface.

The only thing about hotmail that irritates me is that you have to allow third party cookies. I have mine set to only allow those from sites that I have visited. Microsoft need to fix this.

I can view that my emails are there, can't read 'em. That's with a fully updated FF and Java.

On my other netbook I can open them, but it's slow as all hell and you've no idea if the thing is actually operating at all, you've just to wait until the page refreshes. Oh yes, and clicking a link in an email is enough to briefly lock up a whole FF window for a few seconds.

I mean did they remotely test this thing before release?

I don't like the way they've organised things and I resent having some vauge attempt at a social networking site being rammed forcibly down my throat but I can't say I've had any problems accessing the site or reading e-mails (OS X 10.5.8, FireFox 3.6.8).

I haven't looked at my Hotmail account in years (I pick up the few e-mails I receive via Outlook or Thunderbird). Gmail is a far superior e-mail service IMO, although I also use Chrome so I can happily use Hotmail too.

My Hotmail is absolutely fine in FF 3.6.7

Beautifully simple layout, a lot like Windows Mail. It's very fast and everything "just works". In many ways I prefer it to Gmail, but I use it less partly due to people's prejudice against it.

I'd love to know what on earth people are complaining about. Maybe it's something to do with faulty security software or bad plugins, which would go some way to explaining the Chrome recommendation :? :?:

It's not the security software as I don't have any on the netbook in work, and it's not FF plugins as it's still slow and buggy as all hell in 'IE whatever the fcuk' (came with SP3, can't even be arsed finding out what it is).

working fine here on firefox 4.0b2, actually prefer the new version as it allows me to forward my mail to my gmail account, the old version didnt

although the new layout and extra page between me and my inbox is not appreciated, but thankfully i dont use it enough to be majorly affected by this :)

Chrome fairly perks it up :D

In fact, since I don't use the add-ons in FF in work, I think Chrome shall be the way forward there at least 8-)
