The last time I had a female boss was when I was doing my paper round almost decade and a half ago. |

I know it probably isn't politically correct to say so these days, but I'm inclined to agree. I've had some bloody awful female bosses, one of which drove me onto anti-depressants, but the male bosses I've had have been great. I have a female boss now and she's fine, but a lot of that is down to her being of similar age, so has a similar outlook on life. |

Having worked at the Carphone Warehouse I've worked in several different stores under several different managers. Some of them were OK. One of the male managers was a complete prick. However, all of the female managers were absolute nightmares to work for. I was sometimes in tears on the train going home after work. At the moment I have a male boss (head of development) but the head of IT is female and we call her the office radio. She can be very nice if you get on the right side of her (which I think I am at the moment) but as soon as you do anything wrong she'll stab you in the back and tell everyone in the company about it. |

Hm, I've had mixed results on both sides TBH. I generally find women to be more considerate and understanding. That said, some women can be a complete PITA when Aunt Irma is visiting. That's not to say men aren't without faults, I generally find male bosses to be more arrogant and condescending - particularly to female employees. General gossiping and back-stabbing is not an all-women affair, I know several blokes who love nothing more than to wind people up, stitch people up and otherwise [LIFTED]. They're probably trying to get up that greasy pole of a career ladder. |

As a guy, I prefer male bosses. Easier to get on with, more approachable and more helpful. I've worked with female colleagues, including those more senior than me and have got on well with them. It's the ones at/near the top who are horrible. Give very short thrift to anyone needing help/advice, quick tempered, generally "bossy". Fellow colleagues don't ask them for help, which in my line of work can be problematic. |

I've worked with some great female bosses, I've worked with some terrible ones. Same goes for male bosses. Mind you, only one male boss has ever called me a [LIFTED] to my face. Women tend to be more Machiavellian about things, in my experience. |

Mostly I've found male bosses to be great, apart from my first boss who was new and got it all wrong. Generally I've found male bosses more likely to muck in and generally more flexible and fair. Female bosses have come in two varieties for me which I'm inclined to label feminist and motherly. Motherly female bosses are caring and considerate, but generally don't get the job done, people below them walk all over them and they have been liable to break downs. Feminist female bosses are the ones who make sure you know they are the boss, they are generally inflexible because they find giving a weakness. As said, these are generalities from my experience, I'm happy to admit others will have had different experiences and have different views. |

I am a male boss, but my boss is female. I've also had both male and female bosses in the past. I've found both male and female bosses and have found both can be stressy and prone to mood swings. I've found both can get walked over and both can refuse to give in on anything. These days it doesn't bother me if the boss is male or female. Furthermore, I think I'm a lovely boss. ![]() |

I've had more female managers over the years than male, and to be honest, they were often more friendly and generally competent. I have no problems working for a female manager. |

My immediate boss is female and lovely, she's great at her job and really supportive and helpful to the team. My other bosses are two male and 4 female, all of whom are great, we know each other very well, they understand my sense of humour and it's more like a sibling relationship than a boss as such. IME All bosses go through phases of being irritating and stupid, inconsiderate and bloody minded, regardless of sex. When I was a boss I was universally loved. ![]() |

Every boss I've ever had has been up their own ar*e, f**k-useless and a general waste of oxygen. However, I would have shot the women first. ![]() |

My boss is female and displays virtually none of those characteristics, at least so far. Mind you, we haven't had any proper crises (crisises?) yet while she's been in the job. |

I don't care if it's PC or not. Female bosses are [LIFTED]. I've had plenty thanks and they just don't have a decent approach across the board to both male and female colleagues of different experience levels etc. They over criticise or let things slide and are prone to extremes in decision making and people management. The worst ones IMO are the Deborah Meedan type She-EOs who think they can say whatever they want coz they're the boss. How about [LIFTED] you?! Bloke bosses are generallu happier to have a bit of an argument even if they still smack you down in the end. That's not to say blokes are all great. It's my opinion that most managers/bosses/leaders are crap. But the few good ones I've had have all been male and I've worked at A LOT of different places. |
