First of all she is good friends with Stephen Fry so is clearly not homophobic. Then if you have ever seen the Craig Ferguson Late Late Show it is full of similar comments about other places in the US. In his usual opening monologue he makes comments about places and people. It is not serious. Anyone with a sense of humour will realise that. Anyway that happens in Henley not Isle of Wight. :roll:

Oh dear, can't people take a joke any more? I hail from Somerset and often get cider/farmer/country bumpkin jokes, if not a horribly rubbish impersonation of a Westcountry accent. You just take it in your stride.

I expect though the majority of people on the IoW aren't remotely bothered, just the council leader and a select few getting uppity about it.

Mind you, that's not to say we don't take the piss out of they foreigners from outside zummerzet. :lol:

Yep, I met a guy, who said "i'd like to intorduce you to my wife and my sister", but there was only one woman with him.

Misleading title. It was not a 'gay stoning' joke, it was a 'small, out of the way community' joke. Hate it when journalists mislead people like that. Although, I admit that 'Actress Upsets Isle With small, out of the way community Joke' would not be as catchy a headline.
