+ The demo's multiplayer only so gives off a different feel to the single player.
As i said in the thread, initial reaction to the multiplayer can be hostile since it takes a few to get your head around the controls and the mechanics. It may seem very simple to just stealth kill opponents but they have their own time and place (i.e. when they're alone) so you just get a 1:1 K/D ratio.
Currently playing through the singleplayer (bought it on the PC) and i think it's a shame that the marine campaign is the longest whilst the other two are "relegated" to telling side stories which run in parallel with the marine campaign.
It's not that the campaign is necessarily bad, the first two levels were rather good pitting you against aliens in corridors and giving a "hint" of the predator around. Even when the levels open up, i'm not as bothered as reviews have been... for me it's when you end up fighting against "combat androids". To put it simply, the game isn't really well designed as a first person shooter and the problem comes with the lack of a crouch button. I've never put thought into just how useful it is to crouch behind a piece of cover, but this game has opened my eyes. The problem is that said androids wield the same weapons as you meaning it's just annoying and tedious to try take them out. Against the Aliens, if you're skilled enough you can walk away pretty much unscathed, however against the Androids, any time you're in a position to shoot them, they also shoot back at you just meaning you end up in a war of attrition.
Anyhow, i gave up on the marine campaign when i hit that point and started the Predator campaign... now i know the bit-tech review complained that many of the mechanics were too easy (melee combat, distracting guards, stealth kills) however it just gives off the impression that you are a 7ft tall warrior race that's been training to do this for most of your life. It reminds me a lot of Arkham Asylum in that each situation is generally a puzzle in how you want to deal with a group of marines, do you do it stealthily by distracting guards away? Or do you just shoot at the group and then pounce away? It's not as refined as Batman but still fun to a certain extent.
I haven't played any of the Alien campaign yet but i think it's similar to the above but without the weapons... i'll put up my thoughts when i've tried it out.
