In most cases I agree, it does however give them reason to introduce more extreme measures of DRM to attempt to protect the piracy rate.

My view is for PC games mainly is that there should be a check at startup if possible, if not have the game work for a period of time to an appropriate save point, then when saved check again, if something is up stop the player progressing. Steam lets you play games Offline, why can't Ubisoft?

I was looking forward to getting this game, but if I have to be connected to the net for a single player - NO THANKS!!!.

I don't have a landline so rely on mobile broadband, the connection at the moment is absolutely woeful (it always connects but no data gets uploaded/downloaded) plus it has to be launched manually.

The levels of DRM being introduced are getting more and more ridiculous, it now appears to be getting to the stage where the developers/publishers are activly encouraging piracy by pi**ing people off.

I used to have that problem - the extension cable in the box sorted it out

A title I was really looking forward to, now saddled with a draconian and stupid piece of DRM technology. Despite being on a Virgin 10 meg line, my internet connection is nothing short of dire, with time outs happening 23 out of the 24 hours in a day (apparently there's a fault in my area...must have been there for the past four months then), so this kind of deal means I cannot play the game. I have no desire to turn to piracy, I believe people should be paid for their work, but when companies are so blatantly shooting themselves in the foot, it gets bloody dificult to hold that point of view. As of yet I've not made up my mind, but I'm half tempted to buy the retail version, then download the cracked, can-play-and-save-when-I-bloody-well-like version, and play that one instead. Nobody loses out there; I get a game that actually has the decency to work, Ubisoft's Chair gets another Rolls. I mean what kind of monumental berk thought that giving a single player game lag and drop issues would be a good idea?

I'll pirate it thanks.

From previous threads I imagine you were going to anyway, with or without DRM

It's the fact that they put draconain DRM on stuff, which like Spore ends up sending your PC tits-up which makes me try and get rid of the DRM on games.

I don't use iTunes for the exact same reason. I bought the music, but yet I can't do anything with it? It's like buying a CD and only being able to play it on Saturday evenings in a Sony CD player.

Anyway, back on topic. I rented AC2 from Blockbuster for the 360, and was dissapointed again. AC1 took ages to get going then abruptly ends, and AC2 is more of the same.

Roll on Bioshock 2! Only 21% left :p :D
