Gran Turismo 5 will take 50 minutes to install, according to a mysterious forum poster who always seems to have the low-down on the game.

In a GT5 megapost on the GTPlanet forums, Amir212, who apparently has the game, says that GT5 is quite a hefty package:

"The game's install takes about 40 minutes. You're warned that it might be closer to 50," says TheSixthAxis in a neat summary of all of Amar212's info.

"Amar's installation was done in ten minutes less than that, so it presumably depends a little on your model of PS3 and the hard drive you've got installed."

"The space taken is actually about 6.4GB, but that space gradually unpacks as you're playing to be closer to the previously mentioned 10GB."

"In short, better make some room before the game's release next week."

It was revealed last week that when you finally get your mitts on Gran Turismo 5 you'll have to wait a final, painful hour while the game installs over 6GBs of data on your PS3. The good news? That process can be skipped.

Sony has released a statement revealing a background install option, which basically slaps the files on your hard drive as you play the game, instead of forcing you to sit through a lengthy install process, anxiously twiddling your idle thumbs.

"GT5 gives users the option of an install," confirms Sony, which as expected "makes loading times throughout much faster."

It goes on to confirm that installation, however, "is not a requirement when first playing".

"If users choose not to install the data straight away it will do it in stages as news areas, tracks, etc. are accessed during normal gameplay," said Sony.

Nice.

CVG review is out.

PS3 fanboys can expect to die from shock as CVG exclaim Forza 3 has better visuals!

Overall it's what I expected. The environments have always come second to the cars for me in GT games. I'm just glad they sorted out the physics and I can't wait to race some night races and experience the changing weather.
