I remember something similar being in another game but I can't recall what it was. You would have to restart the level something like 10 times and then you'd get the option of skipping the scene/level.
EDIT: Honestly, I think an automatic difficulty adjuster would be better. Eg you restart the level say 3 times and it lowers the difficulty by one notch, until it takes just one bullet to kill your enemy.
