Had a play this weekend. Brilliant game!
The last SSX I played was SSX Tricky and it feels like the same game only better.
I can't remember how the course selection worked in Tricky but this is done on the globe and you zoom in to the various mountain ranges and get to choose from 3 (ish) mountains and each mountain has 3 or 4 drops which you either race, trick or survive.
The trick system is very familiar too. Also the combo system of linking tricks together for multipliers. I've managed a combo of around 16 tricks in the time I've been playing. I imagine there is an achievment to have a single trick combo for an entire drop (i.e. not have any points until crossing the line and completing the combo).
Love it so far! The online is quite good too! I think you can race real time with people but I haven't done this yet. However, I did enter an open contest. There is a timelimit on when you can enter (I think there is still a day left) but anyone can enter and you "pay" to enter using credits. The one I entered was only 1000 credits (or something) but had over 200,000 people in it. You all race the same race and try for the best time. Then the top however many get a share of the prize money.
