anyone bought/seen/tried this yet????????????

This game has affected me very BADLY, I speak in a literal sense, chills down spine, my hair felt as tho it was electric, and I literally had goosebumps all over my arms, I have NEVER been affected so much by a game like this before, I actually had to quit the game in fear O_O, AWESOME game, which uses source engine but it looks 100x better visually than any source game,

trailer here:

The game is so good that im trying to forcefeed people to play and buy it on my steam

YES and played and WOW
stunning and haunting

and YES that is the source engine seems VALVE forgot to stick it in their games (or make proper use of it )

seen mentioned on other forums and the steam ones

that IT is different for EVERYBODY and it also changes every time you play it ( a good thing )

and did get to the end :) :)

the only complainants are too short and needs more interaction (those have been said in other places as well)

for a mod love it

and it free :) :) :) :) :)

can not wait to go to the island again :)

this was put in my gaming clan forums

Back to Dear Esther though. The graphics are sublime. We're used to high end stuff these days with the likes of Skyrim but by gum this one is gorgreous. I agree with you Rockie in that it needed just a tad more interaction and I didn't really find the zoom all that beneficial. Reading on the Steam forums, people have gleaned different experiences but there's clearly some elements I've not seen, even though I was going off the beaten track, so will definitely be having another walk through.

Ok - I really didn't get the "game" aspect of this until I started to read the forums...I had no idea there were so many ghosts! and "easter eggs". I missed all but 2 of the ghosts. So NOW I have to walk through all again to find them and see which version I get as apparently there are "normal" humans, cloaked with glowing eyes and HL2 decomposing models..BRRRRRRRRR

so you can see every time and for every one it different

yep, Ive got 5.7 hours into the "game" so far, I kinda "cheated" and did a "binoculars mod" so I can get a real closeup view of the phantoms,

if youre interested go into console type "sv_cheats 1" enter then change the de_examinezoomamount 0.8 value to "de_examinezoomamount 0.1" and bingo u got binos, now my experiance is a lot better

seems u and me are the only ones on this forum to try this "game"? to think what the rest are missing out on

in that case the other option is to download it Dear Esther as the MOD only ( which is a zip file ) and if you got steam and halflife 2 installed (me hopes)
just un zip it in to the steamapps sourcemods folder

and it then when you start steam is should be shown in the games library
and play (I think)

it is the old and standard way to stick mods in steam

unless steam on macs IS so different :?: :?: :?: :?:

I finally got round to playing it this evening, and I think it is excellent; but am at a loss to explain why I think that.

It's certainly unique and offers a new direction for first person games. I hesitate to call it an interactive story, as you barely interact at all, but it was well worth the £7.

glad you liked

and just remember that it changes every time you play it
it never the same new words appear in the narration as you go to different bits and or get a ghost or more or NONE
