There are two things that define which ending you get. One is 'war assets' which is the stuff you earn in the 1p game. That's multiplied by your 'Galactic readiness' which is earned in the MP game and in the accompanying iOS apps. So if your GR is low, you need more war assets to get the same ending.

The easiest way to earn GR to me seems to be the multiplayer, if you don't want to do that then the Datapad app which has an easy to play mini game that raises it is next easiest. I've managed to raise my GR from .5 (where it starts) to .75 without doing very much MP at all.

I completed the game last week, apparently not the "best" ending... which is a little annoying as i feel like Bioware lied to me for one of the choices (or at least... the Reapers did a damn good job of deceiving me).

However i'm not up in arms as other people are.

I agree it might not be an "Epic" ending to finish the Trilogy of games and there are a lot of plot holes here and there, but i found it to be a satisfactory ending if nothing else were to happen.

The ending certainly wasn't bad enough to discount the 30 hours i spent enjoying the game beforehand.

Don't watch the video if you haven't finished the game. If you have then it's a clever take on what the ending really means.
