They're doing another version of Most Wanted which was one of my faves of the series (the other being NFS:underground 1&2). Wanna buy this but debating on whether to get PC or PS3. The former means my laptop which is quadcore and had 17" widescreen 1080p resolution compared to my TV at 20" 720p.

EA game, isn't it? Is Origin a problem on PC? Some people don't like it...

A game like that I'd put on the biggest screen possible :)

It's more a case of it 'not being Steam' than anything else. People resent having two things to do the same job - and having two accounts with CC details against them of course. I've only bought three games through it, but it seems to work acceptably. They don't discount much over retail though and there's nothing like the Steam sales, so people kind of don't see the benefit for them in having it. which is fair enough because objectively, there isn't any.

IIRC it did present me with one issue - I boughT Mass Effect 1 and 2 through Steam but Mass Effect 3 was only available through Origin. This meant that I couldn't carry on the character I'd played through 1 and 2 into 3, because the two systems both 'protect' save games from being accessed by anything outside the system in question.

Aye, preferably with surround sound.

Right it's a bit crap. You don't unlock cars. You can simply hop into one and drive it. You start off in a DB9 and you have to drive to a Porsche. You then get into that and have to head to a race area. Each car has its own set of races. I've only tried a few but they all seem the same - just drive through checkpoints. Very easy to crash and hence lose. Somehow I ended up in a Lancia and it was pants.

If you come first or second in a race, you get an upgrade and points. 1st place might be something like nitrous and 2nd place might be offroad tyres. Third place wins you nothing. All three award you points (something like 12000, 8000, 4000) and you have to move up the ladder. There's no sense of urgency or pleasure from winning and moving up.

Graphics are okay as is the music. Controls on keyboard are crap so am going to see if I can hook up a PS3 controller.

The police chases do not feel exciting or exhilarating like they did in the original NFS:MW. Have only managed Heat level 2.

Give me a new version of Underground 1&2. I've not cared about any NFS game since then. Too many cops, not enough mods and a lot less fun IMO.

Although I loved both, NFSU1 was IMO the better of the two. It felt faster and the races felt more frantic. IMO some of this was lost in NFSU2. The latter was great for tuning particularly when you could adjust the ECU. The original MW had limited tuning but the races still felt frantic and the police chases were exhilirating. It's gone downhill from there.
