It does get good when you're in a group of 5 of you working through a dungeon.

However, there are only a certain number of quest types...

Fetch x amount of item y.
Kill x amount if mob y.
Take item to person x in city y.
Kill specific mob.

That's pretty much it.

They get harder to complete and take you in to the different areas of Azeroth but the entire game is pretty much those quests over and over.

I played through to lvl 80 and loved doing the high lvl dungeons in a group if 15. You have to have a certain number of each particular class to be able to complete them. Ie a couple warriors. A couple healers. Some rogues, mages, paladins, etc...

Really good fun.

You really haven't played in a while have you? Okay, a fair proportion of quests are like that, but there is a lot more variety spread from lvl1-60 and lvl80-90. Bombing quests for instance, and various minigame type things.

Cloaked_wolf, when you get to lvl 15, I would recommend starting to use the dungeon finder, as it makes the leveling experience more interesting, quicker, and gives you better gear, but grab a crash course on dungeons from someone first (for etiquette etc).

So I decided to upgrade to Battle Chest. Now it seems I have to redownload the client again, and having done so, create a new character? Is this correct? How do I know I'm playing the active game and not the starter edition?

You shouldn't have to download the game again. You can use the same client for upgraded accounts. You can carry on with your current character if you've upgraded the right account from Starter Edition to BattleChest version. You know when you're playing the active game when you can whisper people, trade, use mailbox etc :)

I've added that char to my friends list. Have you got Real ID? Be easier to see you when you're online.
