So, being a) a complete Playstation fanboy and b) seeing which way the wind seems to be blowing with this generation of consoles, I've just put my money down on a PS4.

I'm also considering a Vita, if only because the other half has a bad habit of dominating the TV and the remote play sounds awesome*

*not much good if she's watching Netflix mind.

So folks, have you chosen yet? If you have, which side of the fence are you on?

If I ever get one it'll be a PS4, but tbh I only even bought my PS3 second hand and still have tens of games to play...

I have a PS 2 Xbox and Xbox 360. I am not sure about which one to opt for yet. I might not bother. Cheap mobile games and a few cent games for the mac are all that I really need.

Like Ernie I still have plenty of games to play and replay on the existing consoles and will wait till there are a few games out for each before I decide either way.

Both, same as this generation, but in all likelihood the One will come before the PS4 in this house.

I would probably agree. The addition of the Kinect would make sense.

I only had one decision to make, which one to get first :)

That will be an Xbox one, but if I get one it won't be for gaming for a while as I have too many 360 games to finish first and the Xbox One would be well suited with the media centre setup downstairs. The lack of a requirement for Kinect (and it's inclusion) is great as it could mean I could take it to lan parties for Forza action :D

I find XBL Gold worthy to buy (and I get it cheap) and the free games are a bonus

The PS4 doesn't offer much but will be getting it for the exclusives :)

I will probably stick with PS4 but I really want to see what happens a year down the line. Does Sony have a fresh armada of fail boats, or does MS own them all? The main concern will be the PS+ compulsory purchase and whether it improves online gameplay or not.

I can't imagine + will be worth it in the first year of the PS4 in terms of freebies at least. The MP aspect just sucks balls, and all Sony have ever did with PSN was fcuk it up one way or another. I dunno how many patches the store has had and it still runs like a diseased dog

I suspect that eventually Sony will be launching fail boats en masse, though they have played a blinder by allowing Microsoft to take the flak for now. While initial pre orders might be high these might be the people who would not have been impacted by the proposed changes against second hand games. The really interesting thing will be to see the impact on the numbers that do trade games later on in the cycle. Sales of the consoles could be lower because of concerns over pre owned restrictions.

I think that fail boat has already been launched. The release of the tracks used might be unfortunate but is that really a major problem? The other "assets" night be more disastrous.

For me it will all depend on what (exclusive) games come out that I want to play that will determine which way I go (but suspect it'll be in MS's favour) but either way, I certainly shan't be buying on release (too pricey) and have both PS3 & 360 (with plenty of unstarted/uncompleted games) to keep me busy.

I am in a similar position. No PS3 as I never found enough games to interest me. Though I want to be completely debt free before I consider buying another console.
